Wearable tech has increased by a substantial amount over the course of the past several years, with technological advancements catalyzing the market for an entirely new range of products. Companies like Fitbit and Apple continue to break the mold on what is available for those looking to get into the wearable market, and it doesn’t look like it will be slowing down anytime soon.

A new survey has come out detailing how these devices can help encourage change in our daily lives with how we interact on social media, our perceived behavioral change, and so on. These several factors can help to encourage how much we actually get active. The survey showed that out of over 200 participants, almost 70% owned a Fitbit or a Garmin device over any other brand. The “most common themes for extensive activity tracker usage were to motivate users to monitor activity patterns, followed by improving fitness, and improving overall health. Most current users (81.4%) believed that wearing the activity tracker kept a focus on physical activity integration throughout the day.”

The survey continued to state that “The majority of current and former activity tracker users reported positive interface and hardware experiences using the device. Complaints typically related to battery life, navigating the support software, and hardware weathering were common among 22%-30% of survey participants.” This new technology is something that is groundbreaking and continues to change the way that tech helps us to interact with the physical world. If we are able to use this new technology to better our physical health, this tech could potentially provide breakthroughs for the medical industry as well in patients that need fitness tracking and health changes in their lives. The hopes are high that this new tech can continue to change the lives of many.
