Electric Vehicles Go To Two Wheels

What To Expect With A Zero Motorcycles’ Electric Vehicles, I mean, Motorcycles.

With growing popularity, electric vehicles have started taking over. Some of the most popular brands on American roads are: Bolt, Prius, Proterra, and Tesla. It is rare to see or hear of a fully electric or hybrid motorcycle. Harley and Honda are two of the more popular brands of motor bikes. Their customers have expressed interest in the greener approach to riding but not many startups have been successful. Zero Motorcycles, Lightning Motorcycle, and Alta Motors are some US Companies still in the game.

electric vehicles

Zero Motorcycles CTO, Abe Askenazi, has been in the motorcycle industry for almost twenty years. He said right now a lot of Zero Motorcycles’ customers buy the company’s EV bikes alongside market-leading V-twins and V-4s. To him, that indicates Zero’s bikes perform at the same or better levels as riders’ long-held favorites. He continued, electric bikes are quiet, so riders can hear what’s happening around them, and won’t disturb the peace, which their neighbors appreciate. That quietness is one reason police departments buy Zero Motorcycles for their fleets. They can ride at any hour, and approach suspects stealthily if they drive electric.

Zero’s products range from lightweight “hot rods” to off-road models that cost anywhere from about $8,500 to $16,000. Some of the new bikes are promising 200 miles per charge, which is a significant improvement from past models. The motorcycles’ easy to read instruments, speed control, and acceleration are some of Zero’s customers’ favorite qualities.

Askenazi stated, “Optimization of chemistry has gotten us here. The beautiful thing is that batteries are plug-and-play. When that battery comes that will give you 1,000 miles, we’ll be able to use it. Where the industry is going though is not so much a bigger battery to go further between charges, but faster charging so you can go grocery shopping, plug it in, come back and then you’re ready to go again.”

The CTO said that batteries will eventually weigh less and take up less space on the e-bikes. This will allow more space for cargo and other components. Askenazi stated, “You gain a lot of practicality with this bike.” He believes over time there will be many improvements with lighter weight and stronger materials.

AirBnB goes on a trip to acquisition country.  The tech company known for being “the uber” of hotels has purchased Barcelona-based travel startup Trip4Real.  The company offers a marketplace related directly to enhancing travel experiences for tourists.  They can browse and book in advance of their trip and get that “local flair” that many tourists end up missing because they choose to site see instead.  Cooking classes, food tastings, hands on tours and many more of the related are just a few things that can be accessed through the platform.

The obvious relationship between travel and travel experiences makes sense and the on-demand sharing economy has created the perfect platform to demonstrate this, first-hand. What’s more is that AirBnB has begun to grow its travel services.  Last month the company began testing its “City Hosts” guided experiences program. Trip4Real’s platform seems to fit right into the current culture that AirBnB has begun to create.  But this isn’t the only experience app that is on the market today either and the space is quickly becoming more and more saturated.

Other startups in the space that will put pressure to AirBnB’s current move through their acquisition of Trip4Real include: GetYourGuide, Vayable, Peek, LovliLocals, and GuideMeRight. In 2014 TripAdvisor acquired Viator as well, so this is not necessarily something brand new either.  In a statement made to an online tech magazine, Contacts at AirBnB stated, “We are delighted to welcome Trip4Real to the Airbnb family. [Founder] Gloria Molins and her team share our vision of a different kind of travel experience that is local and authentic. Their experience and expertise is a great complement to our ongoing efforts to transform the way that people travel.”

Trip4Real has been around since 2012 and initially raised $3.1million in four separate rounds of investment. The price of the acquisition has not been disclosed but rumors are suggesting that it wasn’t a large amount…the jury is out so we’ll see what else materializes in the coming days and weeks.

Let’s talk about a mobile game that isn’t Pokémon Go for the first time in what feels like forever. Lima Sky has stated that it is going to launch an e-sports league as well as a new edition of their incredibly popular Doodle Jump mobile game, Matt Turetzky, Chief Operating Officer, says. Lima Sky, which started up almost seven years ago, has reached 200 million unique downloads for its Doodle Jump games across all of its platforms. At the moment, Doodle Jump has ten million users that use the app at least once a month. This puts it among the most popular e-sports such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Popular titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, or League of Legends and Dota 2, has made it clear that video games can be played professionally and even for things such as college scholarships. However, Doodle Jump is one of the earliest casual game brands to try to put itself on the e-sports market. The convenience of this is that Doodle Jump games last just two to three minutes, while the others are certainly much longer.

Lima Sky worked with Skillz to develop its new, tournament-playable game, the company stated. Skillz’s technology comes off as something similar to a digital referee, making sure that players of similar skill are matched up on level digital playing fields. Also, Skillz has money being played for cash bets or prizes, checking players and handling regulatory matters. Lima Sky’s Turetzky had this to say about the matter: “Our games have always been about competition in that people wanted the highest scores and to see their names on the leaderboard…But we’re a small company with a well-known brand. And didn’t want to spend our resources building out infrastructure to support multiplayer gaming.”

Life Clips, Inc. (LCLP), an innovative brand of products revolutionizing the way people capture, manage, enjoy, and charge the devices that share life’s moments, is pleased to announce that its Mobeego® brand of award winning wireless, disposable & recyclable chargers has achieved $170,000.00USD in sales in the UK since March 2016 via its UK distributor Mobeego Scotland, ltd.

“We just entered the U.K. market in 2016. I believe actions speak louder words. At LifeClips we’re letting our actions and our results do the talking. I as well as the entire (LCLP) team are extremely proud of these sales and know it’s only the beginning. ”Said Bob Gruder CEO of LifeClips, Inc.

Mobeego® is currently available for sale in the UK at 400 B&M retail locations, Watt Brothers, G101 Off Sales, ltd. & several privately owned convenient / retail stores throughout the country.

CEO Gruder Said, “I am excited for the future of LifeClips. We are gearing up for our official launch of Mobeego® within the USA.  Based on feedback from retailers, I anticipate demand for the Mobeego product in the U.S.”

The new Instagram algorithm that rearranges posts to only show you the “best’ or “most popular” posts is now going live. Older posts from friends and other accounts that you care about are now at the top of your feed and the more recent posts may not necessarily be there. We already knew that the company was planning to reorder our feeds.

In March, Instagram announced plans to move away from showing posts in strict reverse chronological order, and instead boost those based on the “likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting, and the timeliness of the post,” as it explained at the time. With instagram’s increased popularity, people no longer necessarily want to see posts in this reverse chronological order. This is something that instagram’s parent company, Facebook, determined long ago once it became more popular.

As Facebook came to understand long ago, the posts people want to see aren’t necessarily those that are the newest. They’re those that matter to you, personally.

But since most of us aren’t on our phones constantly scrolling through our instagram feeds, even those who seem like they always are, we sometimes miss post from our favorite accounts. This is due to the high volume of posts. This is especially true if you’re trying to keep up with friends in other time zones. And as Instagram has continued to grow and expand – the company now reports over 400 million monthly users – the number of photos and videos on its service have increased as well. That’s why it’s making this change.

Apple’s iTunes App Store now holds more than 1.5 million apps while its competitor, Google Play, holds more than 2 million apps. However, as we all know, the amount of apps that are actually installed or bought are relatively small. It is already known that people only interacted with merely a handful of third-party apps regularly, and now, new research on mobile apps indicates that twenty-five percent of mobile users typically only use an app one time.

Information from analytics firm Localytics as well as its user base of 37,000 apps, continued possession of apps has grown a bit over the last year or so from thirty-four percent in 2015 to thirty-eight percent in 2016. Nonetheless, just because user retention has increased a bit does not mean that the numbers are better for the market. Rather, what this shows is that sixty-two percent of app users less than eleven times. The report says “this is not a sustainable business model.”

Nowadays, twenty-three percent of users use an app just once – an increase over the last year, but only a bit. Just to compare, just a fifth of users had stopped using apps in 2014. On iOS, user retention was a bit better. The amount of those only using an app one time dropped to twenty-four percent from twenty-six percent in 2015, and those who return to apps over eleven times increased to thirty-six percent from thirty-two percent in 2015.

More specifically, apps that are in the middle of their development (between 15,000 and 50,000 monthly active users), saw the greatest increase in retention and abandonment, the report also highlighted. This is believed to be caused by these apps’ use of push notifications, in-app messages, and email. It is said that push notifications surely keep users interested, in-app messages also have a large impact – these messages raise user retention to forty-six percent, the research indicates.

Apple Pay is currently only available in six countries, however the tech giant has plans to extend its footprint, granting the world its digital payment service. According to Jennifer Bailey, VP of Apple Pay, the company has plans to expanding the program to Singapore, where it supports five major banks that cover 80 percent of the populations cars. Apple pay is also live in the U.S., Canada, Australia, China, and the United Kingdom, but have plans to go global.

“We’re working rapidly in Asia and also in Europe, our goal is to have Apple Pay in every significant market Apple is in,” said Bailey. “We have announced Hong Kong [and], across the [Asia Pacific] region, we’re talking to many partners and banks and evaluating how quickly we can bring Apple Pay to new markets.”

Back in February, leaks were released suggesting the Brazil, Hong Kong and France topped Apple’s wishlist, as Singapore and Hong Kong are small markets with Western consumer traits. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc., hinted at India last month. The company isn’t currently commenting on its plans. However Bailey recently share insight on what Apple looks for in countries set for expansion.

“First, we look at the size of the market for Apple products. We also look at credit and debit card penetration, and [existing] contactless payment coverage,” she said. “[But] when we bring Apple Pay to market even when contactless is low it will grow — it was 4 percent in the U.S. but is now 20 percent. We also work with our network partners, where we can utilize integration with Amex and Visa, to go to market quickly.”

Apple Pay now covers 2,500 bank locations in the United States, which is up from an initial six, as China gained from 12 to 19. Even in markets where Apple Pay is live, they plan on updating their systems to allow for additional support from both banks and card services. Apple is also planing on releasing loyalty programs for Apple Pay, having completed its first year of rollouts in the United States. However Apple Pay does not support online or in-app payments for all markets, something they look to fix in the future. Earlier this year, officials reported that Apple Pay was set to come to ATMs, however that has not officially been done.
