If the cards are well played, the self driving vehicles is very soon a reality. The dominant players in the autonomous driving race are NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Uber, and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
To make autonomous driving a reality, Nvidia has created a number of Drive Platforms. Many players are focusing on the development of software for self driving cars. But, Nvidia is focusing on hardware for the self driving vehicles.
Three components required for self driving vehicle are software development, powering the system, and the necessary equipment as well as the testing of the product.
Nvidia is ahead because of the advancements it has made when looking at the above three components. It can make available all of the necessary tools for the self driving car. The driving platform created by the company is vital for the developer or an automaker to power the system. The company has also developed computers and sensors to handle the testing software.
The latest DRIVE Constellation platform is necessary for the automakers to test the autonomous vehicles synthetically. The companies can test the vehicles through billions of synthetic miles than risking the lives of drivers and pedestrians. The custom build models allow testing and validating without actually running a vehicle on the road and thus safeguard the public.
The solutions developed by Nvidia play a vital role in this self driving car niche. The adoption of autonomous vehicles reaches level 5 from level 3, there will be a great demand. Nvidia will become a key player whether Uber wants to run a fully autonomous taxi or Audi plans to include self driving features in its vehicles.
Intel Benefits from Self Driving Vehicles
Intel is not left behind despite its late entry into the self driving space. The company planned for a fleet of 100 vehicles when taking over autonomous solutions developing company Mobileye. Intel acquired Mobileye in a deal valued at $15 billion in the year 2017.
Intel has demonstrated the self driving car at the Consumer Electronics Show held in January 2018. Mobileye and Intel together plan to introduce Level 4 and 5 vehicles on the road by 2021 with the help of vehicle partners like Honda Motor Co Ltd (NYSE:HMC), and Nissan Motor Co Ltd (OTCMKTS:NSANY).
